The Greens have announced the grand-daughter of a former Territory Administrator, Frances Bunji Elcoate as the candidate for the seat of Karama at the upcoming election. Frances will host a candlelight vigil at Parliament tomorrow for the homeless people that have passed away at 7pm on August 9th Thursday (tomorrow).
Residents angered and frustrated at the constant noise created by the military aircraft engaged in Operation Pitch Black, are intending to gather evidence of exactly how loud and offensive that noise is. They intend to measure and record noise levels at locations in suburban areas of Darwin outside the Air Force base.
NT Greens candidate for Fannie Bay Ken Bird called on the major parties to enact and implement effective zoning protection for East Point and Ludmilla Creek. This would put paid to the undertakings given by current government for their preservation.
NT Greens have selected Fannie Bay local Ken Bird as their candidate in the marginal electorate for the upcoming Territory elections.
Mr Bird works in the airfreight industry. He has previously served on the board of RSPCA Darwin and he regularly volunteers for various local not-for-profit organisations. Ken comes from a farming family in rural WA and has lived in Darwin for 7 years.
